6G-PATH-logo-2 RedZinc advances Immersive Healthcare with 6G-PATH | RedZinc Services

At RedZinc, we are constantly exploring how next-generation networks can transform healthcare delivery, particularly in critical, real-time situations. We are a partner in 6G-PATH consortium, to help shape the evolution of 5G and 6G technologies across healthcare. The 6G-PATH project aims to involve user communities in large scale field trials on 6G testbeds through Open Calls.

While 5G improved performance and efficiency, continuous demands for higher throughput, lower latency and more energy efficient communications needs to be supported by relevant use cases that can claim and demonstrate the needs for these requests. To achieve this, 7 testbeds are part of the project consortium, used by 10 use cases spread across four key verticals: Health, Education, Smart Cities and Farming.

RedZinc Joined 6G-PATH project to advance immersive healthcare communications

The goals of 6G-PATH align closely with RedZinc’s mission: to enhance live video streaming capabilities that support medical experts, educators and frontline workers—especially in bandwidth-constrained or latency-sensitive environments. Our focus is on enabling immersive video, validating real-time performance and improving situation awareness for remote medical professionals. We want to make real-time data streaming and live video work better, especially for doctors who help patients remotely. We also want to test real-time performance and support better awareness in emergency situations.

Working with 6G-PATH lets us test our video technology in new network environments. It helps us improve our solutions before these networks are widely used.

By contributing to this research ecosystem, we gain early access to experimental 6G technologies and have the opportunity to test and fine-tune our solutions in realistic conditions—ultimately helping shape standards and drive adoption across the EU.

Contributing to Real-World Impact

RedZinc is a major contributor into research on XR (Extended Reality) healthcare education use cases, specifically through real-time video streaming technology integrated into the Karlstad University (KAU) 6G testbed in Sweden. This work is part of a broader initiative involving seven advanced testbeds and ten initial use cases across Europe.

Key Achievements

  • System Fully Deployed and Working
We installed our BlueEye platform on the local testbed at Karlstad University. This lets us try out network features that aren’t yet available to the public. This allows us to evaluate performance over cutting-edge network infrastructure not yet available on public networks, paving the way for more responsive and adaptive XR experiences.
  • Validation of Key Performance and Value Metrics
We’ve rigorously tested technical KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) such as uplink bandwidth, latency, and packet loss, alongside KVIs (Key Value Indicators) that reflect real-world impact, including:

    • Service QualityKVIs – user satisfaction, ease of use, network and data reliability, technology acceptance, interactivity and increased training realism in XR medical education
    • Social SustainabilityKVIs – enhanced eHealth education, increased student engagement, improved access to healthcare training, improved health services
    • Economic ValueKVIs – reduced training costs and increased scalability of remote training solutions via XR technology
  • User Feedback and System Iteration
Continuous feedback from real users is feeding directly into system improvements, ensuring that RedZinc’s solutions remain practical, usable, and aligned with evolving needs in healthcare education and remote expert collaboration. This feedback helps us improve the platform and make it easier to use.

The future for RedZinc in 6G

The 6G-PATH project is just getting started. With plans to support 30+ new use cases and extend existing testbeds with 10+ new technologies through upcoming Open Calls, there’s significant potential to scale impact and gather even more meaningful performance data.

RedZinc advances immersive healthcare in 6G-PATH by delivering real-time video streaming solutions that enhance remote medical expertise, training, and critical situation awareness over next-generation 5G/6G networks. We are proud to help create better, faster, and smarter systems for healthcare. Our goal is to support doctors, improve training, and help patients—no matter where they are.

RedZinc is excited to continue contributing to this future-focused initiative, working alongside partners to build more resilient, responsive, and intelligent network-enabled solutions. We believe the lessons learned and technologies developed through 6G-PATH will play a vital role in shaping how healthcare is delivered and experienced in the coming decade.
